SELEUKID KINGS. Antiochos VII Euergetes (Sidetes), 138-129 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.40 g, 1 h), Tarsos. Diademed head of Antiochos VII to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟY - EYEPΓETOY Athena standing front, head to left, holding Nike in her right hand and resting her left on shield decorated with gorgoneion and set on ground; spear leaning against her left arm; to outer left, monogram of HPA above A; all within laurel wreath. SC 2055.4b. SMA 311 var. (slightly differing monogram). A rare and very attractive piece with beautiful iridescent toning and an excellent portrait. The obverse struck slightly off center and with minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
